If the waking is unreal then your experience of birth, life, death, and the world within the waking experience also is unreal (illusion).+

The snow is nothing but water, therefore, the water alone is real. Similarly, the universe is nothing but Consciousness, therefore, Consciousness alone is real and eternal.

If one says this universe is real then:~

A person, who stamped his foot on the ground to refute to show the world, is real, ignores that in a dream he would do exactly the same--stamp his dream foot on the ground and assert it to be real.

If you say you have a flesh body in a dream, the dream becomes unreal when waking takes place. Similarly, the waking becomes unreal when you realize the ‘Self is not you but the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness.

If the waking is unreal then your experience of birth, life, death, and the world within the waking experience also is unreal (illusion).

The question is based on the waking entity (you or ego). Whatever is based on the waking entity (ego) is based on the dualistic perspective.

You have to learn to view the worldview from a non-dualistic perspective then only you will be able to have the Soulcentric view of the worldview.

In Advaitic Self-awareness, the ego is not considered as ego, even though the ego is present, the body is not considered as a body even though the body is present, and the world which confronts him is not considered as the world even though the world is present, the duality ceases even though the duality is present, because of wisdom everything is considered as consciousness. Thus there is conscious oneness.

Only in ignorance, the world in which we exist is an illusion created out of the Soul, the Self.

The world is both real and unreal. It is real because it is a manifestation of consciousness, but is unreal, in the sense, that it is not absolute and eternal like consciousness itself.

People's approach is more practical, and they stuck with the reality of the world, they take it as real. That is why all the confusion.

The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. In fact, our mental and intellectual conditions determine the world, observed and experienced. The commoner viewing the world will see differently from a Gnani viewing the same world. Each one interprets the world that they see in terms of their existing knowledge. The commoner sees everything based on the ego, therefore, experiences birth, life, death, and the world as a reality, whereas a Gnani sees everything as consciousness and he is fully aware of the fact that, there is no second thing that exists other than the Soul or consciousness. Thus, all the egocentric knowledge has to be bifurcated to realize the ultimate truth, which is beyond form, time, and space.

Rig Veda: ~ The Atman is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe.

Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God in truth) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).

When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then no second thing exists other than consciousness. Thus, the whole universe and its contents are nothing but an illusion created out of consciousness.

Sage Sankara says you must first know what is before you. If you cannot know that, what else can you know or understand? If you give up the external world in your inquiry, you cannot get the whole truth.

Chandogya Upanishad:~ One who meditates upon and realizes the 'Self' discovers that everything in the cosmos-- energy and space, fire and water, name and form, birth and death, mind and will, word and deed, mantrams and meditation--all come from the Self. :~Santthosh Kumaar

The one that appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality), is the Soul, the ‘Self’. +

The ‘I’ is not a thought. The ‘I’ is the mind. The mind is the whole universe. The universe appears as a waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality).
The one that appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality), is the Soul, the ‘Self’.
The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. Consciousness pervades everything and everywhere in all three states.
Without knowing what is mind in actuality, it is impossible to realize the truth, which is hidden by ignorance.
People think the mind is within the body but deeper Self-search reveals the fact that the world in which you exist itself is the mind.
When the ‘I’ is there then only the mind is there. If the mind is there then only the universe is there.
If the universe is there then only the waking is there. Thus, it is very much necessary to realize the ‘what ‘I’ is in actuality.

Without knowing ‘what is this ‘I’ it is impossible to realize the ‘I-less’ truth, which is beyond form, time, and space.

Remember:~

The three states are not caused by the mind, nor is the mind caused by them because they are the mind itself. The mind is a myth from the standpoint of consciousness as self. Hence one has to hold to the principle of absolute non-creation.

In a dream, one sees a whole variety of individuals,. These entities, which are within the dream, do not exist apart from the witness of the dream. Likewise, the dream is an object to the formless witness or true Self or consciousness. Likewise, the waking experience is also an object to the formless witness or consciousness.

The waking man, wandering about in all the ten directions in his waking experience, sees the whole variety of individuals within the dream. Similarly, there are a variety of individuals in the waking world. The waking also disappears as a dream.

The witness of the three states is within but it is apart from the three states. It is within because it is the formless clay of the three states and it is apart as the formless witness of the three states, it is apart because it is not an entity or identity within the waking /dream.

The waking or dream cannot exist independently without the formless witness/true self. There is no evidence of the existence of the one without the other; they are cognized only through each other. :~Santthosh Kumaar

All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Consciousness.+

All is consciousness. The whole universe is consciousness. From consciousness, the universe comes. When the universe disappears, consciousness still remains without form, time, and space.
Sage Sankara: ~ “VC~ All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman (Consciousness) which is absolutely free from all the limitations of Maya.
Sage Sankara: ~ VC~.63- "Without knowing and examining the external world, one can’t know the Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world.

After verifying through deeper inquiry if one finds the world is the reality within the illusion then he cannot again say the world is not an illusion.
Sage Sankara says: - VC-47- All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the non-Self.
Till you think you are an individual separate from the world and the world existed prior to you and you are born in it afterward ignorance will prevail as a reality. Until ignorance is there the universe prevails as reality.
Sage Sankara says: ~ “The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real meditation, then why you are indulging in other types of meditation.
Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness. By holding onto theories one remains in the realm of duality.

You have to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search. Finally when you become aware of the fact that, your ego, your body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of duality.

The ego, body, and universe are merely an illusion created out of consciousness, which is the Self.

The illusion is like a Banyan tree, which has roots above and branches below to reach the ground, where they root secondary trunks all around. One cannot recognize the beginning or the end; neither its shape.

The seeker has to get rid of this illusion with the sword of wisdom and realize the fact that, consciousness alone exists, all else is merely an illusion created out of consciousness. Thus the ego, body, and the world are part of the dualistic illusion or Maya.

The one who can grasp this truth becomes aware that birth, life, death, and the universe are unreal from the standpoint of the true self, which is consciousness. Thus being judgmental on the base of the false self (ego) leads one to imaginary hallucinated truth.

The non-duality cannot be theorized. All theoretical non-duality is based on the false self. All the religious-based non-duality is based on the false self.

Non-duality has to be grasped and realized only through self -search not by reading books, hearing sermons, or mastering scriptural knowledge.

The seeker has to drop all the accumulated knowledge and verify the facts of his own existence. --Santthosh Kumaar

The Advaitic wisdom is not suited for the unsettled mind, which sticks to religion, yoga.+

The Advaitic wisdom is not suited for the unsettled mind, which sticks to religion, yoga, and all non-Vedic worship and activities. There is no use in convincing such a mindset. Everyone is free to move on his chosen path.

Brihad Upanishads: ~Even yoga cannot give perfect concentration and the only way to gain it is philosophical realization. This confirms Manduka Upanishad’s statement that yoga can no more succeed than the ocean can be emptied with a blade of grass. (Page ~133- first para)

From the Advaitic perspective, yoga is useless for realizing the truth, which is hidden by form, time, and space.

The yogi shuts his eyes against the world and then has the temerity to declare that he knows the world to be Brahman! Because he has not inquired into the world in which he exists, he knows nothing. Yoga cannot remove ignorance. It is only a step. It removes obstructions.

Bhagavan Buddha gave up yoga after practicing it for six years. He saw it could not yield truth.

Bhagavan Buddha gave up his austerities of yoga as impossible and useless. Thus Buddha got enlightenment only after he gave up Yoga. (Page.70/71 "Buddhism in Translation” by Warren)

Sage Sankara definitely says: ~ Yoga is not the means of liberation (pages -132-133 of his commentary on Brihadaranyakopanishad).

In Sutra Bashya and Manduka: ~ Samadhi and sleep are identical.

Brihad Upanishad does not advocate Samadhi.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana cannot come if anything is left out. The whole universe must be included. For only when all is known can all be known to be but ideation. Hence yogis blotting all out in Samadhi cannot lead to Gnana.

The yogi holds the Self as ‘I’ his practice is based on the ‘I’ without knowing what ‘I’ is in actuality. The yogi may get the knowledge that the Seer is separate from Seen, but he will never know Brahman without inquiring into the world, because he is giving up the world, and hence cannot discover his unity with the world.

The Gnani regards everything in the world as Brahman; the yogi rejects the world. Thus there is a fundamental difference.

The seeker of truth should not believe all the stories about the magical power of mantrams, visions, and samadhis and astral travel because they are a reality within the dualistic illusion. Wherever there is duality there is no truth.

When you know that everything is Brahman, there is no need for yogic control of the mind. Control presupposes second, a duality.

Hence, yoga is in the sphere of duality and is unnecessary to one who knows non-duality.

If anyone talks of liberation he is forming an idea. The idea belongs to duality. Those philosophers, who are so confused as to be unable to separate the subject from the object, talk of gaining liberation. But all such ideas are only the dualist illusion (object) that comes and goes, the Subject needs no liberation because the object is created out of the subject. Knowledge of the subject frees the subject from the illusory object.

The Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate truth or  Brahman or God in truth.

The final state is that God is everything, the All; there is nothing but God, whereas to say "God is in me" is mysticism.

The world in which you exist is consciousness. Unless the world in which you exist is there in your realization, the Advaitic wisdom will not dawn.

Ignorance cannot go through merely knowing the Soul, for it is known in sleep and Samadhi. It can go only by the realization of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate truth or Brahman because there is no second thing that exists other than consciousness. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

There is no need to surrender the ego, to God, without knowing what God is supposed to be in truth.+

There is no need to surrender the ego, to God, without knowing what God is supposed to be in truth.

First, know you are the ego. Without the ego, the world in which you exist ceases to exist. The ego is the basis of the world in which you exist. The ego, you, and the world appear together and disappear together.
Surrender is a religious and yogic fable. Religious people think casting the burden on the belief of God and going free, is surrender.
How can the ego surrender to the religious God, which is not God in actuality? All such claims are possible only in the domain of form, time, and space. In reality, no second thing exists other than the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. When there is no second thing, then surrender to what.
The ego is the basis of the world in which you exist. The ego alone cannot be discarded. The ego is present along with the body and the world. The ego, body, and the world appear together and disappear together. The ego, body, and the world in which you exist are a dualistic illusion.
The ego, body, and the world in which you exist are the product of ignorance. Only when ignorance vanishes then the reality of the ego, body, and the world fade away as one essence.
Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is necessary to realize the knowledge of the single stuff. The knowledge of the single stuff frees the Soul, the Self from the cage of ignorance.
If you are seeking the truth then do not mix up religion and yogic fables drop all accumulated garbage to realize the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

Some Gurus say surrender your Soul to God. But the Soul is not different from God because the Soul itself is God. There is no second God exists other than the Soul.+

Some Gurus say surrender your Soul to God. But the Soul is not different from God because the Soul itself is God. There is no second God other than the Soul.

There is no difference between the Soul and God belonging to religion and yoga. Religion and yoga are nothing to do with Spirituality or Adyathma.
Sage  Sankara says:~ ‘He who knows the Brahman (God in truth) is one and the Soul, the ‘Self’ is another, does not know Brahman or God on truth.”
The Atman or the Soul, the Self is present in the form of consciousness.
Consciousness is the witness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to show their absence.
What is not consciousness (formless) in waking, dream, or deep sleep? The waking and the dream cease to exist without consciousness. The Soul (witness and the three states (witnessed) are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. Thus, the seeker, seeking and his destination all are one in essence.
There is only a need to realize the whole universe in which we exist is created out of the Soul, the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness.
From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, and the universe is merely an illusion created out of consciousness.
Thus from the ultimate standpoint, no second thing exists other than consciousness. Therefore, consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad: ~ Brahman (God in truth) is present in the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.
Even Rig Veda: ~ The Atman is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe. May ye never turn away from the Atman, the Self. May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman nor worship other than the Atman?" (10:48, 5). :~Santthosh Kumaar

Nonduality is sought to be indicated by the negation of duality (illusory universe).+

Existence is nondual. Nonduality cannot be described by means of words for all uses of language fail to express it.

Nonduality is sought to be indicated by the negation of duality (illusory universe).

Sage Sankara says:~ How can the talk of diversity, dvaita, apply to the Supreme Reality which is one and homogeneous, Advaita? Who has ever observed diversity, dvaita, in the unmixed bliss of the state of profound sleep?

There is nothing the seeker has to practice to realize the Self hidden by ignorance. Only through perfect understanding, and assimilating 'what is what', Self-realization is possible.

It is not a transformation that is called for, not an evolution. It is pure awakening – the rising of the sun of knowledge.
The scriptural mastery, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.
The ultimate truth is revealed in the clear understanding and realization of ‘what is truth and ‘what is untruth. When one realizes the untruth (universe) is created out of single stuff, Self-awareness rises in the midst of duality exposing the unreal nature of the form, time, and space.
Sage Goudpada: ~ To establish the truth of Non-duality by sheer reasoning alone. He begins by defining "What is real?" "What is unreal?" etc, because that is the right way to discuss or teach. People must first know what they are talking about. (Manduka Karika)
The reasoning is interpretable in two ways. The egocentric interpretation is to apply it only to the waking experience. The soulcentric interpretation is to apply it to the three states. The latter leads to the final settlement of the problems because it takes all data into consideration.
As we keep digging deeper and deeper, the truth will shine as pure awareness in the midst of the duality (waking).
The Soul, the Self is our ultimate teacher. It is only our inner teacher that will walk with us to the goal, for the soul is the goal.
From the ultimate standpoint, there is no teacher, there is no teaching and there is no student.
What is the use of discussing about the religious robe within the unreal world? Instead, one has to find how this world is unreal (illusion). In the Atmic discussion, the body and the world are merely an illusion. Why discuss about the robe (body), when the Self is not the body.
When the expression itself is illusory the evolution within the illusory expression is bound to be an illusion.
The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. In fact, our mental and intellectual conditions determine the three states, observed and experienced. The commoner viewing the three states will see differently from a Gnani viewing the same three states. Each one interprets the three states that they see in terms of their existing knowledge. The commoner sees everything based on the ego and therefore experiences birth, life, karma, death, and the world as a reality, whereas a Gnani sees everything as consciousness and he is fully aware of the fact that, there is no second thing that exists other than consciousness.
Thus, all the egocentric (religious) adulteration has to be bifurcated to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman to know the truth propagated by the ancient sages of the truth. The sages of truth are not religious gurus or saints.
Sage Sankara himself had often said that his Advatic wisdom was based on Shruti, or revealed scripture. This may be because Sage Sankara addressed the ordinary man, who finds security in the idea of causality and thus in the idea of God—and Revelation is indispensable to prove the latter. He believed that those of superior intelligence, have no need of this idea of divine causality, and can therefore dispense with Sruti and arrive at the truth of Non-Dualism by pure reason. ~ Santthosh Kumaar
