You belong to the dualistic illusion. Identifying the ‘Self as 'you' is a great error. Your existence is limited to the domain of form, time, and space. You are bound by the experience of birth, life, death, and the world whereas the Soul, the ‘Self’ is birthless and deathless because the Soul, the Self is formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.

When the Soul appears as deep sleep (nonduality) the world in which you exist disappears and when the world in which you exist appears as the waking (duality) the Soul disappears.

The one that appears as dual (waking or dream) and one that disappears as nonduality (deep sleep) is the Soul, the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness.

The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. In fact, our mental and intellectual conditions determine the three states, observed and experienced. The commoner viewing the three states will see differently from a Gnani viewing the same world. Each one interprets the world that they see in terms of their existing knowledge. The commoner sees everything based on the ego, therefore, experiences three states as a reality, whereas a Gnani sees everything as the consciousness and he is fully aware of the fact that, there is no second thing that exists other than the Soul or the consciousness. Thus, all the egocentric (religious) adulteration has to be bifurcated to realize the ultimate truth, which is beyond form, time, and space.

From the dualistic perspective, people see the world in which they exist as a reality. They see their body as the body, their ego as the ego, and the world in which they exist as the world whereas a Gnani sees everything from the nondualistic perspective.

A Gnani sees his body as the consciousness, his ego as consciousness, and the world in which he exists as consciousness. For a Gnani, whatever is seen, known, believed, and experienced is nothing but consciousness. There is unity in diversity in Gnani's understanding whereas the ignorant people see only diversity and separation.

Thus, it is necessary to learn to view and judge the three states from the non-dualistic perspective, to realize the three states are one in essence. There is nothing to realize other than realizing that consciousness is everything. Consciousness is second to none.

When everything is nothing but the consciousness then what remains which is not the consciousness.

Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what leads to Self-awareness. By holding on to theories one remains in the realm of duality. You have to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search.

Finally when you become aware of the fact that, your ego, your body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of duality.

The seeker of truth should be aware of everything that is untrue: stick to the truth and he shall succeed, maybe slowly, but surely. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
