Mastering the Vedas the Upanishads and the other scriptures and mastering the Sanskrit language do not a qualifies one to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.+

Many people believe by accumulating mastering the knowledge from the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the other scriptures and mastering the Sanskrit language makes one a Gnani.

The scholars who mastered the knowledge of the Vedas the Upanishads and the other scriptures and mastered the Sanskrit language looked upon other people as ignorant or as illiterate. The religious scholars think people who have no knowledge of Vedas, the Upanishads, and the other scriptures and do not know the Sanskrit language are not qualified for higher truth.

Mastering the Vedas the Upanishads and the other scriptures and mastering the Sanskrit language do not a qualifies one to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

These religious scholars immersed in ignorance in various ways, flatter themselves, saying: We have accomplished life's mission. Because these performers of karma do not know the Advaitic Gnana owing to their accumulated knowledge they will never be able to cross the ocean of dualistic illusion.

Sage Sankara strongly advocated the study of Upanishads, and at the same time cautioned that the study of Upanishads alone would not lead to moksha. In matters such as spiritual attainment, one’s own realization was the sole authority and it cannot be disputed

Sage Sankara also said a study of Upanishad was neither indispensable nor a necessary prerequisite for attaining the human goal, the moksha.

Sage Sankara pointed out; that even those who were outside the Upanishad fold were as eligible to moksha as those within the fold were. He declared that all beings are Brahman, and therefore the question of discrimination did not arise. All that one was required to do was to get rid of ignorance (Avidya or duality).

Sage Sankara:~ VC-58- Loud speech consisting of a shower of words, the skill in expounding the Scriptures, and likewise erudition - these merely bring on a little personal enjoyment to the scholar, but are no good for Liberation.

59. The study of the Scriptures is useless so long as the highest Truth is unknown, and it is equally useless when the highest Truth has already been known.

60. The Scriptures consisting of many words are a dense forest that merely causes the mind to ramble. Hence, men of wisdom should earnestly set about knowing the true nature of the Self.

61. For one who has been bitten by the serpent of Ignorance, the only remedy is the knowledge of Brahman. Of what avail are the Vedas and (other) Scriptures, Mantras (sacred formulae), and medicines to such a one?

Advaitic Wisdom will not arise by accumulating knowledge from Gurus and books

Advaitic Wisdom dawns only when you realize the fact that the ‘Self’ is not you but the ‘Self’ is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Whatever is based on you is bound to be an illusion, because your existence is a reality within the domain of the dualistic illusion or Maya.

Whatever is based on the Soul is the reality, because the Soul is the formless, timeless, and spaceless existence. The Soul is the fullness of consciousness, without the division of form, time, and space.

If you are seeking truth then you have to accept the truth whatever is based on you as illusory in order to realize the ‘Self’. The Soul is the cause of the illusory world in which you exist. Thus, the illusion hides the truth.

The ‘Self’ is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Self-realization is Truth realization. Truth -realization is God-realization. God-realization itself is real worship.

Sage Sankara: ~ “Brahman is the truth the world is unreal everything is truly Brahman and nothing else has any value.

The path of wisdom is not for the Orthodox populace. It is difficult for the orthodox people to accept the truth because they already accepted something else as truth because of their samskara or conditioning. It is difficult for them to accept anything other than their inherited conditioning.

Sage Sankara says - VC-162- There is no liberation for a person of mere book-knowledge, howsoever well-read in the philosophy of Vedanta, so long as one does not give up the false identification with the body, sense organs, etc., which are unreal.

Even Sage Sankara appears personally and tells them what they have accepted as truth is not truth; they will never be able to accept anything other than their accepted truth.

Orthodox people must follow their chosen path which makes them happy and gives them satisfaction. Without instance urge to acquire Self-knowledge it is impossible to tread the path of wisdom.

Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Among thousands of men, scarcely one strives for perfection; and of those who strive and succeed, scarcely one knows the ‘Self’ in truth.

The path of wisdom attracts only those who are in search of truth and they appreciate it greatly.

Ignorants are not spiritually mature they receive Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. Ignorants indulge in argument and provocation and personal attack, which hinders their own realization of the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Sage Sankara says: - VC-47- All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the not-Self.

I am highlighting all the obstacles in the inner journey and how to overcome these obstacles. All accumulated knowledge is of no use in the Atmic path.

It is for every seeker, to realize, himself “What is the truth, “and “What is untruth?” to assimilate Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. My postings are only signposts.

The seeker needs to reflect constantly on the subject until the cobwebs of his doubts and confusion get cleared.

Sage Sankara says: ~ There is no need to study the Scriptures, in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman

~ then why do you indulge in studying the scriptures?

Sage Sankara says: ~ There is no need to study philosophy, in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman

~then why do you indulge in studying philosophy?

Sage Sankara says: ~ There is no need to indulge in rituals, in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman

~then why do you indulge in rituals?

Sage Sankara says: ~ There is no need to indulge in yoga, in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman

~then why do you indulge in yoga?

Sage Sankara says the transparent Truth of the Self, which is hidden by the illusion, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, (Gnani)

~ then why you are sticking to a Guru who is not a Gnani?

Sage Sankara says ~ “The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false leads to truth- realization.

Atman is Brahman. The Atman is the Self is non-dual because there is no second thing that exists other than the Atman. Atman is present in the form of consciousness. The consciousness is the only true reality, and everything else, which appears as form, time, and space is merely an illusion.

It takes time for the seeker to gain the perfect understanding of ‘what is the truth?’ and ‘’what is untruth?’. It takes time for the Soul, the Self to wake up from the sleep of ignorance, and it takes time for one realizes the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
